The perfect camera bag to use when travelling.

My Journal

This past summer, or at least from last October to May 2012, I have been on a total of 18 planes. Mostly going back and forth between Melbourne and NZ for many gorgeous celebrations. I have never been questioned about my carry on luggage (yes I carry all my camera gear on board…all 15+kg’s of it…) and I thought I would share how I do it. Last year I bought a Libby Bag from Kelly Moore, which is my main camera bag. I love this because it can fit my 17″ MacBook Pro plus a 70-200mm lens, my two camera bodies (5DMII) with lenses attached. Without the laptop it pretty much fits everything! Everything being, two camera bodies and 6 lenses. When I am flying, I have a little system… firstly I use my stroller bag (Antler) to store my Shootsac (I did a blog post on my Shootsac, check it out here) with three lenses inside. I make sure that this bag is less than or around 7kgs because the stroller bag ALWAYS gets weighed! Before I go through customs I put my (insanely heavy) Libby Bag on top of my stroller bag when I’m in the airport, then when I’m ready to go through customs, I take a deep breath and sling my Libby Bag on my shoulder (I only do this to go through the doors, where they have the little scales…) and no one ever wants to weigh my ‘handbag’ in disguise. Quite frequently they will want to weigh my stroller bag which is fine because, as I mentioned, I always make sure this is under 7kgs. I love Kelly Moore bags because they are great looking handbags as well as practical camera bags… perfect. If you are interested in any of the bags there are videos on the site which are really helpful. I currently have my eye on this one and this one, which do you like better? I can’t decide. xx

  1. Ahhh you’ve just brought me back to that website (after deciding a month ago that I didn’t need one) and now I want one again! I totally can’t decide which one to get. I’m super picky with bags too haha. I originally wanted the Kelly Boy bag (even if it was designed for guys) but now I’m contemplating getting the B-Hobo one!

Have the straps on your one stayed in good condition? Like, no tearing at the base of the strap because of the weight or anything like that?

Hi Danelle! Thanks so much for your comment. The Kelly Moore Bag has stayed in great condition! No tearing or anything. Hope this helps x

  3. Awesome! I ended up ordering the ‘almost black’ b-hobo bag! Can’t wait till it arrives! :D

ohhhhhhh I love these bags! Im not even a photographer, but what a cool idea instead of carrying a seperate camera bag. Im defintely keen on one of the smaller ones, very styley! I think B-Hobo is my pick :)
