I’m in the process of updating my business cards and stationery, and recently had the privilege of visiting Shona Gow at her home letterpress studio – Magpie Press, in Ponsonby Auckland. I always find it so fascinating visiting creative peoples workspaces. I loved listening to Shona passionately describe the art form that is letterpress. This is truly involved work – none of that pushing-a-button-then-leaving-it stuff. The tactile imprint of letterpress into paper is something I have fallen head over heels for. There is nothing else quite like it and I can’t wait to get my hands on my very own letterpressed goodness very soon.
