June Snapshot

My Journal

It’s winter! It is rather chilly in Melbourne…high of 14 today woo! Last month I tried Hot Yoga which was interesting… I actually really enjoyed it! It’s so nice to be in a warm room, but anyone that thinks yoga is easy…it is definitely not! This is exercise people. I don’t think I have ever sweated quite as much… Anyway…! As well as Yoga, I’ve loved getting back into running every week day – the late night drive-through was definitely frequented a bit too often by Lydia and I after some long wedding days this past summer…! Last month I met up with a few other creative minds and fellow photographers living in Melbourne, Kiralee and Kim Cartmell, and also a couple of fellow kiwis, Alison Owen (check out this girls design work, she is truly amazing) and Lucy Thorton (who runs a beautiful online wedding stationery business with her sister and cousin, Cocoa Berry). I’ve shot several lovely engagement sessions, 1/2 set up Queensberry Workspace (which I’m loving), designed some beautiful albums and discovered a cute new cafe down the road from where we live (quite exciting) + I’m completely up to date with my wedding editing. So May was quite successful!

JUNE 2012

My parents are coming for a visit next weekend, I’m excited to spend some time with them. June is the only month this year where I’m not photographing a wedding! My goal is to use this time to get all my album designs sent out (8 to go!) and work on making my business better. Oh and I also cannot WAIT to start B-School this month! Marie Forleo is incredible, I’ve been slightly obsessed with her videos – but they are so good! She is the perfect balance of hilarious, relevant and so helpful. Check them out here.

Another goal I have for this year, is to invite people around for dinner frequently (once or twice a month). This has always been a goal of mine, but excuses always seem to get in the way…like our house is definitely not perfect, it’s too small…etc. etc. I read on this blog the other day something that completely resonated with me. “Sharing a meal in a restaurant is a completely different experience than opening up your home to others. “When you invite someone into your home you become vulnerable.” She said. “You are saying this is who I am.” She fears we’ve lost that kind of intimacy and we are not the better for it.

So I hope your June is full of embracing your life the way it is at this moment, not what you would hope it would be in the future. Live in the moment, not in the future (or past.) That’s my goal for this month. It can sometimes be hard for me to embrace the quiet moments. So while it is so important to have goals…I’m learning to not forget about today either. xxx
