I picked up this awesome magazine at a cafe last week while a friend and I were waiting for a stationery sale to open. I didn’t really look at it until last night, and I discovered something exciting!
Gram is a free monthly publication dedicated to promoting the diverse and exciting food culture Melbourne has become known for. It’s basically a compilation of articles from food and drink based blogs published in magazine format. SO…while I was happily (greedily) discovering the potential places where next to feed myself from, I discovered this…
Now I might be really behind with this technology, but it really got me excited! I love the idea of easily switching between print and web formats – providing a solid interaction between the two media platforms. This might even be something that could save printed media. Admittedly, I have never been much a newspaper reader, but I think there is something about turning real pages that wont ever really compare to scrolling down a screen.
To use this app simply download it to your phone by clicking here or by typing ‘Microsoft Tag’ into your App store search menu. Then start scanning!
Do you think this will be a technology that will take off? I was thinking about how I could use it within my business… on the back of my cards, or booklets perhaps? Or maybe people will just think it’s some weird looking logo….
**Updated**
So I have been informed by my ‘technically minded friends’ that as well as being COMPLETELY behind the times (I knew it!), QR codes are potentially better than Microsoft tag because they are open source and more people are using them :) Check out this link. xx
Here is my one for Microsoft Tag :
haha, you are a little behind but better late than never. However you should really look into QR codes. MS tags are controlled by MS, meaning you can only create and scan tags using microsofts way of doing it (closed source), only. QR codes are also more ubiquitous. You should check out the iPhone game called AR defender for an excellent example
Haha I knew it! Yes I have the QR code app. And you don’t have to register with Microsoft before getting one…. My experience is I’ve found tag easier to scan with…?
Hey, you stated in a much more direct way what I was trying to communicate, thanks, I will recommend your site to my friends.
