For my birthday my husband Sam surprised me with a trip to the snow and a night at the incredibly amazing Chateau!
This was the view from our room. The Chateau was built in 1929 by the Tongariro Park Tourist company and quickly developed a reputation for hosting fabulous people and fabulous parties. The Chateau was made into an asylum when a hospital in Wellington was damaged by an earthquake during WWII. It has since been painstakingly restored to it’s former glory, and visiting it felt like stepping back in time to a period of elegance and luxury. I absolutely LOVE things with history, things that have a story, so staying at the Chateau was quite special :)
If anyone is planning a wedding at the Chateau, LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED A PHOTOGRAPHER!
Love the self timer!
A few from an alpine walk we went on…
