Where to spend & where to save for your wedding!

My Journal

After photographing over 150+ weddings, I’ve learnt a thing or two about what makes an incredible wedding day… Recently I went LIVE on Instagram to talk about this topic. Disclaimer: you may not agree with everything, and that’s totally okay!

Some things you could SAVE on:

Expensive guest favours/gifts.

You could write a handwritten note instead!

Large floral centrepieces on the tables.

Your guests want to see and talk to each other!

A choreographed first dance.

Don’t worry about trying to fit dance lessons into your already packed schedule – a clutch and sway is fine :)

Bouquet & Garter toss.

It can be awkward and put unmarried guests on the spot.

Guest book.

You could ask your videographer to film your guests instead?

Things worth INVESTING in:

Photography!

Yes I’m a bit biased…but these are your memories. You need a photographer you can trust.

Albums.

Your first family heirloom.

Hair and Makeup Artist.

Someone who can make you look amazing, and help to settle any nerves. Make sure they have done many weddings, and know how to stick to timelines!

Planner/stylist.

Planning a wedding is a full time job. If it gets overwhelming, ask for help.

Celebrant.

Someone you connect with is so important to set a good vibe for your ceremony.

Videography.

You want someone unobtrusive, and your vows recorded!

Band or DJ.

So important to get people up and dancing and having an amazing time.

Venue.

Somewhere that can cater for your ceremony and reception is ideal.

At the end of the day, everyone has different values and opinions on where to save, and where to spend their $$ for their wedding. But if you focus on the most important thing: your wedding is to celebrate the amazing commitment of marriage you’ve just made – you’re sure to have an amazing day, no matter what. I hope these few tips helped you, and let me know if you agree or would add anything!
