Do you feel like there’s not enough hours in the day to get everything done? Let me ask you this: what time do you get up? Do you have a morning routine?
Now that my kids are sleeping through the night, I’ve claimed back that precious time in the morning.
I strongly believe that having a consistent morning routine sets you up to have a successful day. I love my mornings, and I’m excited to share what I do with you!
My morning starts slightly differently depending on the day of the week.
MONDAY: I intermittent fast until around lunchtime.
I like to start Monday gently, so I wake up around 6:00am, make an espresso with MCT oil blended into it, chug some water, get the kids fed, dressed and ready for daycare (they go on Monday and Tuesday).
8:00 AM – I drop the kids off and then walk up Mount Gravatt which is right beside their daycare. I love starting my week this way! It’s a 40 minute walk, don’t bring my phone, it’s just me in nature and it always sets my week on the right path.
TUESDAY – WEDNESDAY – THURSDAY
5:00 AM – Wake Up! I set my alarm on my bedside clock so I don’t have to have my phone next to me when I sleep.
5:07 AM – Walk to the gym. I’m lucky to live less than 5 minutes walk to my local gym.
5:15 AM – Tuesdays: 45 min Spin Class, Wednesdays: 30 min HIIT, Thursday: 45 min HIIT
6:15 AM – Home, jump straight into the shower and get dressed.
7:00 AM – Coffee and breakfast. I usually have frozen blueberries or raspberries, with Greek Yoghurt, nut butter, almonds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, cacao nibs, coconut flakes – anything I have on hand at the time!
To ensure my morning goes smoothly, I put out my gym bag, shoes and clothes the night before. It’s probably worth mentioning on the days I get up at 5:00 AM, I make sure I’m in bed by 8:30 PM and try to be asleep by 9:00 PM.
Time to do a workout first thing in the morning is important not only for my physical wellbeing, but also my mental wellbeing. And trust me, you’ll feel super productive for working out before 6:00 AM!
Yes there are times where I don’t feel like going to the gym, but honestly – I don’t give myself the choice if I should go or not. It’s something I just do. I don’t think about it – I just get up and get going. I guess I’m self motivated, but I also think about how I’ll feel if I miss my morning routine. This always motivates me to get out of bed, because I love my morning routine so much!
I love the saying – ‘if you own the morning, you own the day. If you own the day, you own the week.’
Decide what type of day you want to have in advance. If you don’t currently wake up early, I challenge you to try! It does get easier, and you will never regret it!
