Do you ask for feedback?

My Journal

My brides and grooms are the number one most important part of my business. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have a business! I realised a little while ago, that instead of asking my clients for a testimonial, it was easier for most people to answer a few questions about what it was like working with me. This also gave me more insight on how to best serve my clients and continually improve my business.

I really want to know what the whole wedding photography experience is like for my clients, right from the beginning when they were newly engaged and looking for photographers, right up until the final delivery of the wedding album. The insight I have received from simply asking a few questions has been invaluable!

It’s sometimes a little scary to ask for feedback on your business, but when you give your clients a chance to be completely honest, and open yourself up to be vulnerable – it’s the only way to grow and get better. My whole business is based upon serving my brides and grooms in the best way I know how. Honestly, it’s what drives me most.

What I do is so much more than just a business transaction.

As one of my beautiful clients Erin commented on her feedback form, “…working with Kate hasn’t felt like a transaction, it’s felt like a relationship.” I don’t say this to blow my own horn, so to speak, but just to say – this is the highest compliment to me!

These are the questions I ask my clients:

– What hesitations did you have when choosing a wedding photographer?

– Why did you choose to have Kate as your wedding photographer?

– What specific thing did you like best about working with Kate?

– How have you benefited from having Kate as your photographer?

– Would you recommend Kate Robinson Photography to your friends? If so, why?

– Is there anything you wish you would have known before your wedding day? (This can be anything! Doesn’t have to be photography related)

– Favourite moment of your wedding day?

– Is there anything else you would like to add?

If you are a wedding photographer or business owner, please feel free to copy and paste the above to use for your business! I create my form using Wufoo.

As a result of asking my brides and grooms for feedback, I am blessed to use their comments to create real, honest testimonials on my website. I’ve learnt lots as a result of asking for feedback, I’m also becoming more open to constructive criticism and feedback to make what I do even better! I want to run a business that serves my clients in a way that goes beyond beautiful photographs. Asking my clients for feedback has become an invaluable way of continuing to do that.

Do you ask your clients for feedback? If you don’t already, do you think you might now? Have I convinced you?!
