I recently found something that I absolutely love! Kinfolk is such an inspiring project. There is something so right about taking the time for real community – I think their Manifesto below sums it up perfectly. Check out more Kinfolk here. Their magazine is well worth a read.

Kinfolk is a growing community of artists with a shared interest in small gatherings. We recognize that there is something about a table shared by friends, not just a wedding or once-a-year holiday extravaganza, that anchors our relationships and energizes us. We have come together to create Kinfolk as our collaborative way of advocating the natural approach to entertaining that we love.
Every element of Kinfolk – the features, photography, and general aesthetics – are consistent with the way we feel entertaining should be: simple, uncomplicated, and less contrived. Kinfolk is the marriage of our appreciation for art and design and our love for spending time with family and friends.

I think I’m even more sentimental about this because we have recently moved to Melbourne from Auckland, so I am separated from a lot of my friends and family. Moving to a different country is definitely scary and I’ve discovered it’s easy to look back on the past with rose-tinted glasses. But there is so much opportunity in moving to a completely new place, I’ve already made some amazing friends and even though I might not know what the future holds, I’m excited about it.
….on that note, here are some photographs from the day after a lovely wedding I shot with my lovely new Melbourne friend Amy in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road.
Taken by Amy.
Beautiful girl.
