WE’RE MOVING TO BRISBANE!

My Journal

We’re so excited to officially announce we’ll be moving to BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA in April 2017!! Sam has been offered a position at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience at the University of Queensland!

With all the excitement and anticipation of being closer to family, there is also a twinge of sadness, okay maybe more than a twinge… to move from Salt Lake City.

From the very beginning of moving to the States people have welcomed us with open arms, wherever we go. Through church groups, the nursery, the playground, book baby at the library, walks around the Avenues, we have made so many wonderful friends.

Salt Lake City is where Ava (our little American!) was born, where we became parents.

At first, Salt Lake City seemed such a random place to move to. But it has become a home-away-from-home and we will miss it dearly.

I’ve learnt so much from living overseas. I’ve come to realise that as a New Zealander, what we hear and see portrayed about American’s in the media makes it easy to have an stereotypical generalised idea of the kind of people American’s are. I admit, when we moved here I wasn’t sure what to expect.

But my hesitations have been so completely unfounded. People are respectful, kind, gracious, thoughtful, polite, smiling, interested, and oh so positive.

America has become part of our story, and I’m so grateful for the amazing memories I will take with me from this place.

So with all that being said, we are looking forward to moving to Brisbane! So tell me, do you know anything about Brisbane? I’ve visited a few times, but just looking at suburbs and potential places to live has my head spinning!

If you have any Brisbane tips, I would love to hear from you! xx

PS: Ava and I will be in NZ for February & March 2017, I’m excited to photograph a few weddings in NZ then. Prayers for navigating an international flight alone with a toddler welcomed!
