Kathy and Jason have known each other since they were teenagers. They were high school sweet hearts! They are now based in Perth, and together with the help of Caroline from The Creative Type, they planned a magical, meaningful wedding day where their love was first sparked, in Melbourne. It was a day steeped in family tradition, love, honour and heartfelt commitment. Everything about this beautiful couple radiates joy. Kathy literally lights up a room with her amazing infectious smile which shines even brighter when Jason is around. These two clearly adore each other, and it was such an honour to capture this amazing day. The day started bright and early. Kathy prepared at her family home, and waited for Jason to arrive with his family for their first tea ceremony. Jason’s family waited outside Kathy’s family home while the loudest firecrackers EVER went off (that’s the smoke you see in the background!) to alert the brides family that they had arrived! Next, each family member was served champagne and gave the couple advice about marriage and family. This was such a lovely thing to witness! Next we went to Jason’s house for another tea (champagne) ceremony. Even though most of the ceremony was in Vietnamese, it was obvious how much Kathy and Jason mean to their families. Time for lunch! Jason’s family turned their backyard into a perfect place for everyone to relax and enjoy some delicious traditional Vietnamese food. Next was the church ceremony. Kathy and Jason chose to have a first look and have photographs before the ceremony to minimise the waiting time for guests after. Kathy also had a new dress to wear, which Jason obviously loved :) Married! After the ceremony, we headed to Carousel in Albert Park for a few more photos :) Miss Envylope did such a gorgeous job with the stationery and hand lettering. The talented Petra from Pomp and Splendour created a magical fairytale garden feel to the reception. The floral chandelier was gorgeous, and took centre stage above the dance floor.
