Behind the scenes of PWL

My Journal

On Monday I hosted Planted with Light, a wedding photography workshop for photographers. The workshop was held at my parents beautiful property, an hour south of Auckland. I’m still pinching myself that this actually happened! It’s amazing to think this that this seed of an idea I had last summer was brought to life this week.

The day before the workshop we had 4 power cuts at my parents house. 4!!! This was such a test of my nerves. I probably had about 3 hours sleep on Sunday night, going over my presentation in my head, all the little details and couldn’t relax! At 8.30am the next morning everyone started arriving and I was feeling excited… but when I first opened my mouth to speak, my voice started shaking, and I realized how nervous I actually was! Thankfully the shaky voice didn’t hang around too long, and I calmed down enough to clearly speak to the 15 attendees.

I am SO overjoyed with how the whole day turned out. We had sun when we needed it, power when we needed it, calmness when we needed it. It honestly couldn’t have gone better and I have many people to thank for how successful the day was.

Firstly my amazing parents, for letting me take over their home. (Yes I moved furniture, rearranged the walls…etc.) I can’t thank you guys enough! Thank you again to my Mum and sister Esther who made all the delicious food we had, they even got asked for recipes! Thank you to Claire & Alex from Claire Mossong Photography for being so willing to be our models for the shoot! These guys had a wedding the day before, so I can imagine they would have been exhausted! Thank you to Kate Holland who styled the amazing Planted with Light themed shoot (which I can’t wait to show you next week!), Kate also spoke to the attendees about getting featured which was so valuable. Thank you to Lydia, my amazing sister, for taking pretty much all of these behind the scenes photos. Thank you Steph & Katja, who I am so grateful filmed the whole day. Thank you to my amazingly talented cousin Kirsti who created all the flower arrangements. Thank you to Melissa who responded to my Facebook cry for help, she did such an amazing job with Claire’s hair for the shoot. Thank you to Christina from Freckles and Blush, who is an incredible makeup artist, and made Claire look even more stunning. Thank you to Michele from Rue De Seine for letting us borrow one of your gorgeous dresses for Claire to wear. Thank you Judit for your incredible macarons for everyone’s goodie bags, if anyone hasn’t tried one of Judit’s macarons, you need to order them now! Honestly they are so delicious. The best.

Last but not least, thank you to all the amazing attendees! Amber, Nadine, Qiane, Krystle, Sheree, Roz, Emma, Samantha, Brooke, Jenni, Eva, Katie, Jimena, Janneke, Carly – None of this would have happened without you guys. Thank you so much for your support and trust in me. I love that we all learned from each other, and I’m grateful I had the opportunity to spend the day with all of you. I’m so excited for all of our journeys through this exciting and crazy world of photography. You guys have inspired me so much! I am so looking forward to watching everyone grow in their businesses.

I hope you enjoy a little behind the scenes action xx
