Behind the scenes: Amber + Holly from Red Creative
I’m excited to introduce to a new feature on the blog today! There are so many wonderful people that work within this amazing world of weddings. We love being inspired by talented people and their incredible businesses, and thought it would be great to visit their workspaces and ask them a few questions! I had the pleasure of visiting these two lovely ladies, Amber and Holly from Red Creative Event Styling in their beautiful studio in Takapuna, Auckland – which they also share with the talented Annie O. Red Creative look after all the creative details for your wedding day, from beautiful stationery to exquisite floral, unique guest favours to chic spaces. I loved chatting with Amber and Holly and came away feeling totally inspired!
How did you get started working in the wedding industry?A: I was working in Visual Merchandising and studying Fine Arts and it just seemed like the perfect mix of everything I loved and the right next step for me.
H: I really was just in the right place at the right time! I did a short term contract with RC and Amber took me on from there. I am extremely blessed to do what I do.
Describe what a typical day looks like for you. A: What I love about the job is that no two days are the same! In winter there’s a lot of searching for inspiration, planning and designing as well as lots and lots of meetings. In summer it’s all go – working out logistics, floral and styling work – lots of doing and creating.
H: Lots of calling people and getting distracted by wedding blogs! I love my job it’s all about people
Who/What inspires you?A: Generally I’m inspired by people – Our clients, other great people in the industry and all the amazing creatives out there who really put there heart out for everyone to see.
H: I get inspired by what I see in my own back yard, Auckland is really starting to have a great feel about it, amazing new places to eat and some awesome innovative ideas popping up.
What is the best thing about weddings?A: Weddings are great because they’re so personal. It’s such a special time that will be in people’s memories their whole life – that’s really special.
H: Apart from the fact that it is all about the big L word (love). Every single one is different!
What three words would you choose to describe your brand?A: Pretty, Playful, Chic.
H: Playful, Passionate, Quirky.
What would be your number one piece of advice for brides-to-be?A: Stop to smell the flowers! Seriously, take lots of moments in the lead up and especially on the big day just to stop, remind yourself what this is all about, enjoy all the beautiful things that you only get for one day and spend time with the people you love.
H: Don’t get too hung up on the details, that’s our job – so you can enjoy your big day.
What does an ideal day off look like for you?A: Reading a book cover to cover on the beach – bliss!
H: My ideal day off would be spent in the kitchen cooking a massive meal for my family. I love having them all together!
